The Aboriginal Career Awareness Outreach Program March 21, 2007
In 2006, Triangle Resources was invited to offer both the R.I.T.E. and W.R.I.T.E. programs to the un-employed community members of the Chehalis Indian Band as a pilot project. Triangle Community Resources enjoyed enormous success with this particular client group and has the formula created to successfully meet the needs of the community and the participants within the aboriginal un-employed male and female members. The feedback from the Chehalis Band, staff and participants was extremely positive
Through the success of the Chehalis project, we have recently been awarded a 1-year contract through Service Canada. The Aboriginal Career Awareness Outreach Program is designed to provide services to the aboriginal clients within their own communities and who cannot be adequately serviced from other mainstream programming. We have a mobile service commute to various Aboriginal reserves throughout the Fraser Valley on an ongoing basis complete with staffing, materials, resources, and assessments and follow up services.
The Aboriginal Outreach Service RITE/WRITE Program is a group facilitated, intensive, six-week modular program. The program will be run 7 times in a 52-week period and will be based on a one-year pilot project.
The expertise Triangle Community Resources brings to the R.I.T.E./W.R.I.T.E. Programs are presented by integrating personal management skills into the assisted job search process. All elements of the R.I.T.E./W.R.I.T.E. Programs enable the participants to assess their own responsibilities and patterns in making life and career choices. The 6 week modular program prepares the participants to move forward successfully to their employment goal. The participants look at the circumstances, events and behaviours that have created patterns and barriers for them in the present, and develop the skills to facilitate change for the future. All personal development/management skills focus on improving the employability of the individual.
Triangle Community Resources Inc is honoured to provide this service to the Aboriginal Communities and look forward to the success of the participants and all agencies involved.
